INGIE BAHOE, SSF INTERN, RESEARCHES ANTENNA-TREE

“First draft design of antenna tree by mounting and exciting current probes,” from Interim Report, Tree of Life Antenna and Ground Segment Design,” by Ingie Baho

During the summer of 2019, The Tree of Life team welcomed intern Ingie Baho to the JPL campus. Ms. Baho is an engineering student at NYU Abu Dhabi, and she came to work with our telecommunications scientist, Dr. Alessandra Babuscia, to further research into the tree/antenna concept. Her research was wildly successful; she modeled the dielectric properties of a living tree to determine if we could harness its properties as an antenna component. The models were a success. The team was able to move towards a prototype!
